RECENT NOOS....
Also, I wanted to mention that we’ve had -40, -39, -42, -47 degrees for the past four mornings!!!!! This morning, our thermometer reads -42 while Tom and Jeni, ATR, reads -47. Usually “across the road” temperatures are warmer than ours by almost 20 degrees in the winter time.
We, The Buongiornes were supposed to go into Fairbanks, 150 miles one way, and have had to cancel all our med appointments for Rob and ourselves...bummer...but better be safe than sorry...travelling on the Alaska highway at these low temps is no fun plus rather dangerous...
We had more “farm” generator trouble. Rich had to run the radiator up to the radiator shop in Fairbanks. We had to run the farm on the small generator again which isn’t all that great when it’s so cold and there are so many places and things to warm up. We managed. Rich and Liz ran the radiator to town, spent the day goofing around, and then returned home with the fixed radiator. I just have to mention that they went to Bruegger’s Bagels for breakfast, Wolf Run for lunch, Barnes and Noble for coffee, and Coldstone Creamy to use Lizzie’s gift certificate. I think they didn’t suffer too much on that trip. J
Bro Andrew Giles was here for service on Sunday morning. He had a short but excellent word on “Christ in us”. Griselda actually uploaded it to Dropbox and here is a link if you’re interested in hearing it.

DRY CREEK REPORT FROM SARA .....
Good morning! It snowed around two inches last night. The snow machine guys are going to be real happy while the hockey guys might be a little sad about having to shovel off the rink, again. Now, if one of those guys happens to do both of those things, I imagine the snow machining happiness will override the rink cleaning sadness. We just haven’t received enough snow this year for the guys to do much sport snow machining.
Speaking of the hockey rink, the guys were out playing the other night and had a couple of accidents. Seth, my son, caught a flying puck in his face. He came home with a bloody, swollen nose and swollen lips. Brad Cox, without anyone touching him or even near him, fell backwards onto his rump and hit his head while falling. He was limping around worrying about a pinched nerve.
We had a good service last night. Thomas led worship with the help of Bethany, Olivia, Kathryn, and May. Very sweet worship time. Bro Rus preached to us on sharpening our discernment skills. Sis Margaret followed with a call to prayer. She exhorted us to stir up our hearts in order to shew the power and praise of God.
The convention ministry made it to Haines in good time last week. Then they all were able to get out to Hoonah for the weekend for a convention there. Sometimes the weather isn’t cooperative, but this year it was. Andrew Giles flew into Juneau to meet up with them for a day in Hoonah (I think). He’ll travel in the opposite direction by coming up here to preach in this area and to give a class at Whitestone while the Ministry continues on to Whitehorse and further. Garth and Bro Wayne are their chauffeurs.
On February 23, the highschool will be doing some sort of musical for us for the Wednesday night service. Save the date all you grandmas, grandpas, other relatives.
Scott Chartier is getting married on March 19. Wenda and Bethany are reserving tickets for that event. Looks like Wenda will be gone a nearly a month. I’m sure Bethany will be gone less since she is in her senior year and can’t miss too much school.
I have heard from the Squires (Steve & Judy) that Hannah Davis is pregnant. Everyone is delighted.
Pat Lou made it safely to England last week. He and Bethany are expecting twins in June. Since Beth can’t come back to the states till May, and that is rather close to her due date, she will have the twins in England and hopefully return to Alaska in the late summer.
Liz Baltrum Werhonig had a little boy last Thursday. He is a week old today. He weighed in at six pounds, twelve ounces and now has the name of Paul Garret. Nancy was there for the birth. She wanted to come out and visit but it has been difficult to plan that since Nancy’s main reason for being here was to be with Liz. Maybe the visit will happen yet?
A couple of people have been struck with colds and such. Miss Sarah Jane has been out all week and Jo was in for a few days too. Hopefully, this germ runs out soon.
Bro Rus and I have been diligent with the taxes lately. I am just a lowly clerk pulling up forms from the internet for him and filling in the forms on the computer. I had convinced Bro Rus that the computer is the way to go with filling out the forms, and he willingly tried the computer, but I did something wrong (it was all very strange) and the saved forms did not save (I do KNOW how to use a computer). I was frustrated esp. since I was on a huge mission to convince Bro Rus that the computers would save us time. He has now given up trying to type on the computer, but he is at least letting me help him. Such luck!!! And, Jo Cox has been teaching for me on Thursday mornings allowing me to have more time to work on our taxes. That has been VERY nice.

Having a ton of fun with my class going snowshoeing almost every morning just before lunch...we all have snowshoes and poles and we just go gallivanting back behind the cabins and onto the snow covered creek bed. It's lots of fun, we get fresh crisp air and good exercise to boot. The boys are really liking it.
Then in the afternoon before supper, I go out with some of the ladies. This takes a little longer and is just as much of a good time. Annie has been coming out with me too when her schedule permits. Just got her a nice pair of Redfeathers and I got another pair of Canadian made snowshoes that are working very well for me. Yaiii for ebay...

The trails have fresh snow on them which makes it nicer to snowshoe...it is absolutely gorgeous to be out there! Thank you Lord for such an amazing place...

THE LAND CONVENTION 2011 REPORT FROM SARAH
Thursday we had an “off” day to prepare for convention. Off is not the right word seeing that everyone was extremely busy so we could appear un-busy during the weekend.
Friday morning was the beginning of our convention. It was -20*, so slightly miserable for running around in dress clothes. But, it was manageable. By the second day, the temps hovered around 0*, sometimes with a brisk wind.
The first morning, Ben led worship, and Bro Buddy opened the convention with the theme “When the Son of man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” Bro Buddy said that in the beginning God makes His provision, the end is the fulfillment of His plan, thus the end is better than the beginning. Bro Bill closed the first meeting.
For the evening service, Thomas led the praise. John Basalyga spoke on the need for discerning the spirits in contrast to the Spirit of God. It was a very involved word with examples from fishing. His text was Ezekiel 47. David Digloria preached next on using our senses to discern good from evil. He talked about salmon returning home by smelling the scent of the home waters and by overcoming many large obstacles. He said that we have a clear destination to win Christ.
Saturday morning, as mentioned was warmer in temperatures than the day before. Bonnie led worship, and Bill Grier preached on having good walls and tearing down bad walls. Our walls should not be between each other but should be walls of protection and defense against things that could harm our spiritual life. Ken Franklin followed continuing on walls but talked of praying down the walls of obstacles using Phil 1:1-10 for his text. For the Saturday evening service, Pat & Gri were a dynamic duo in leading worship. John Jeffreys then began his preaching by mentioning something that I don’t remember knowing – he said that the last letter that Paul, the apostle, ever wrote was to Timothy (II Tim). Bro John’s theme was on not drawing back when facing affliction alone, that we will face affliction alone, and that we will be strengthened by personally connecting to the grace in Jesus Christ. He used examples from David’s life when his sons, Absalom, and then Adonijah tried to take over his throne. Bro George was next, and he used Habakkuk 2 for his text- “write the vision, and make it plain…” He also talked of God’s love being the source of reproof. Bro Bill closed this meeting.
Dick Kunz met with the young people after the service to play some games and to share some. He is a very kind, patient man!
Sunday morning was our last meeting. Paul Basalyga led worship for us. J Joe McCord told us that the world is in trouble and the source of this trouble is sin. He said that we are to war against this sin by repentance and by fear of the Lord. He talked of the need to sound an alarm and intercede for one another in prayer. Bro Buddy then preached the last word. He said our lack of peace comes from a conflict with God and not our conflict with others. He also talked about seeking judgment for ourselves and not for others. Very clear word. A quote, “Everything that comes your way is the will of God.” Bro George closed the convention.
We had a scrumptious prime rib dinner last night with the ministry and a few other guests. The meal was cooked by Seth Fouse, Jarred Milliron, and Brad Cox with many other volunteer guys and young men. Of course, some of the wives and young ladies helped them out. A couple from Seville, Spain is on this tour. They shared after the meal. Then Dick Kunz had practiced a play with the kids from 6 – 12 yrs. They did a really cute play on the Caleb and Joshua scouting the Promise Land. Kevin wore sheet rock stilt-y things and was one of the giants. The man from Spain was one of the other giants. Guests at convention included: Toby and Marie Williams, Wendy and Paul Jennings, Letha and Mike Berchum, Mark Coy, Derek Haukus, Dave and Jay Underhill with Regina, Anne Bear, Sue Brown, Rose Dunning, Susan and Joseph Brooks, Don and Eleanor Marsh, Rebekah’s sisters, Rebekah’s parents and brother, Rick and Bonnie Stillie, Mike Crouch, Terry Hardman, Val Wimberly, Helen Olsen, Peter and Stacey Casey, Woan Chuie, David and Kim Johnson with Darryl Johnson, John and Donna Hasz, Bob Crowell, and maybe some others.
Today we had off again – at least it was off from school. Some folks had to work. It was mostly an off day so we could do laundry and recoup after the weekend’s guests and busy-ness. The ministry left early this morning to travel to Haines. I suppose they have arrived although no one has yet checked in.
Erica and Kelsey came down from Fairbanks yesterday in time for dinner. They will return to Fairbanks tomorrow.
Pat Lou flies to England tomorrow to visit his fiancée, Bethany. The kids had a going away party for him tonight at Wenda’s, thrown by Bethany Chartier (and Wenda).
