Good morning all,
Christmas/New Year’s break was quite hectic for me. I took all last week to recover (and I’m still not sure I’m recovered-laundry everywhere, etc). Last week was back to school. We are done with breaks except for one more at convention time at the end of this month.
We went caroling, did various jobs, went to a pot luck a Jeni and Tom’s, went to a New Year’s dinner at Buongiorne’s, attended a square dance at the tab, followed by some really nice fireworks.
Tommy was a little offended that I said he’d cooked his first breakfast ever here recently (I had it on good authority). He said it was actually his second breakfast to ever cook. And, Tommy had to fly down to Oklahoma to be with Penny and his father. His father got really sick – pneumonia and maybe some other troubles. I don’t know how long Tom will be gone.
As you all know, most likely, Sis Betty Hilliker is home and is doing very well. Her daughter, Pam, came and helped out for a week or so till Sis Betty could get on her feet better.
Sis Claire Farmer passed away on the last day of this year. Her service probably won’t be held till spring or early summer so that it is easier traveling.
When we went caroling on Christmas Eve, I observed that Miss Jannis wasn’t home, but I thought she was only out to Whitestone. Come to find out, she spent a lovely week with her daughter, Lura, in Big Lake (near Wasilla).
Also, recently, Kylie Miller Eads had her twin girls. They were both a little under five pounds and needed help breathing. They are breathing on their own now (I think), and they’ve both hit the five pound mark. Included is a picture that I stole off facebook.
Stacey and Peter Casey have come out to visit for a week or so. Pete is still working at getting his Paramedic certification with Jon Squires.
Convention cleaning has begun. Yesterday Kim and Griselda and a bunch of girls cleaned the ovens in our kitchen. I will get to personally see how clean they are soon enough.
Sunday dinner will make pork roast from the fine pigs that Rich has raised!!!! I’m a little excited since I love pork roast even though Wendy always tries to ruin it for me by telling me that pigs are gross cuz they don’t sweat. Maybe that’s what gives the meat its fine flavor?
The weather recently has fluctuated a lot. Some -25* weather and some above zero weather. It’s winter, no doubt. Oh, and to the guys’ delight, we’ve actually gotten some fresh snow. The snow machines have finally come out, although it’s not enough snow to really properly play or go up the mtns.
Pat, Rob and self went out snowshoeing today at 0 degree weather. Lovely! Trying to get a pair of Redfeather snowshoes for Annie so she can join us! Rob does well on his LLbean ones. Good choice for him! We were out for about 1 hours. Good to get that heart pumping...so good for Rob cause it is a bilateral excercise which engages both sides of his body and enhances balance, eye-hand coordination and a bunch of other good stuff.
