Evenin' Folks,
We had those cold morning temperatures all last week. It was a little miserable. And each midday, the temps would rise 20 degrees or more. This morning it is only -5*. Last Friday we probably received between 4-6 inches of beautiful fluffy snow. I thought it seemed like 12 inches, but I could tell from the amused laughs when I mentioned this that my estimation was way off.
Flo and self drove into Delta for some shopping and were caught in a blizzard...rather scary...but made light of it cause the guys will make fun of us...oh well...a winter driver I AM NOT!
We are still being plagued with generator troubles. Yesterday the generator kept shutting off for no apparent reason. It was discovered that some loose water wire was tripping a safety feature. Once that was fixed, all is well again for a little while.
Last Wednesday Liz (Baltrum) and Don Werhonig brought their new baby, Paul, to visit us. They also brought Nancy Baltrum. Nancy hadn’t been home in like five years. She didn’t recognize most of the children. She's delivered many of the kids (now grown up) who live/ed here on the farm in the last 20 years. All my kids fer sure...nice seeing her.
Yesterday Kimberli and her cook crew made chipotle pork wraps. I have NEVER eaten such good meat. As you all know, I despise most meat, but this stuff just melted in your mouth. It was most excellent. Then today they used that leftover meat to make a pork chile. That was also very good. Kimi has started to make our very own cream cheese...a 3 day process...but was soooo good with strawberry syrop made with our own strawbs.
Thomas and Craig worked through the night last night hauling equipment out to the logging site. I guess they couldn’t haul till after midnight due to road restrictions. Logging season has begun in earnest.
So… as I was saying, I started this letter this morning, but I became distracted. Now I’m back to finish. Today a breezey breeze came up and blew snow everywhere, then it started snowing like crazy for about 90 minutes. Now, it is back to being calm and white. It is beautiful out!
Took the three boys in my class snowshoeing. Very nice sluffy snow. Clay just got his Canadian snowshoes (like mine - same company) nice....
Yesterday Thomas led worship, followed with Wenda’s preaching. A quote from that is, “What you give yourself to, remains”. Then Thomas shared on faith, exhorting us to put our faith in the right place – a little faith in God is a whole lot better than a lot of faith in ourselves.
Jannis went to Black Rapids for the weekend with some of her girl buddies. J
The Nerbonnes had the kids over on Saturday night for a pizza dinner and games. They played some outdoor games like flashlight tag. Some weren’t dressed for the weather so some got very cold, like Lizzie who frost bit her big toe. Maybe her feet are so long that they don’t keep as warm as little feet?
Bonnie taught her first PE class to the elementary school kids today. I know all my students were very excited about that.
Wednesday night the highschool students will be putting on some sort of play under the direction of Miss JoAn. They’ve coerced Seth to be in it too.
Here's a photo of Annie and self doing a snow angel in the new, deep snow on our trail! Unfortunately Polartec does not shed very well so I got rather damp!!
Rob enjoys playing with his guine pig Reepacheep b efore school.
