Hello.
We’ve been having some extremely high winds. Tuesday night was pretty bad, and Wednesday night was worse. People lost sleep because of things blowing about and knocking where they usually don’t. Wednesday night several trees fell barely missing cars and homes and some shingles flew off any shingled roof. Half of one side of one of the logger’s kilns fell over due to the high winds. Yesterday (Thursday) was very calm, but this morning we woke up to a few gusts of wind.
Now, it is beginning to blow fiercely again. We woke up early this morning to those high winds again. They are so loud and disturbing. Pat says that the roof blew off the kiln. I hope the guys can work out in this okay today. They have to haul wood to the boilers and, of course, feed and take care of all the animals. hhh… the stillness. It sounds so wonderful. We awoke this morning to absolute calm; gray, but calm. I think only one of the kilns was seriously damaged.
later.....occasion
Yesterday was gray with a smattering of little hard snowflakes. This morning, we awoke to a white world, there are no mountains to be seen, and visibility is on the low side. The temperature is holding at 22*. See, I knew spring wasn’t really on the way yet. I actually don’t mind the fresh snow. Everything was so dirty looking after that wind blowing dirt everywhere.
PatLu is back with us now and having a good time working with the loggers in the woods. Rather dangerous but he seems happy enough. We are rather crowded and have put him up in what used to be Rob’s therapy room, which is now our general den and TV workout room...seriously need a larger cabin. He is also learning how to work with the heavy equipment and dozers and such. Making himself useful welding this and that, there is always something that needs fixing. He has his granpa Lou’s and dad Pat’s knack for fixing things so it’s nice to see this trait in him. His little brother Robin loves him to pieces and is very happy to have him back. Actually we all are. He has changed matured and is a joy to have around. He is thinking of going out guiding for hunters with another veteran hunting guide. He has bought himself a nice rifle and is looking forward to his summer adventures. May is our new graduate and got a lovely dress for the occasion, Annie got one too and both will look like lovely young ladies hard to think that my girls are all grown up. Annie still has 3 years before she graduates. Pat Sr. is busy tuning pianos around Alaska, flying in small airplanes and watching polar bears from the hotel windows up in the northern villages...only in Alaska...
Sun is out and it is a good time to got out walking in the snow....
Talk to y’all later
bye now and God bless
